Finally, someone has managed to pull me from the bottomless abyss of lesson plans and neverending classroom preparations to add to my blog. Last Saturday, I was on the computer (probably doing lesson plans or preparations) and Darren handed me a small package he'd retrieved from the mailbox. It was something from Ebay.
"I didn't order anything from Ebay," I commented, confused. "Did you buy that CD for me that I was looking at?" He hadn't.

I ripped open the package to find a cute little apple (for the new kindergarten teacher, I'm guessing), but no explanation as to who had given it. I wracked my brain for who the anonymous sender could be, and realized that the whimsical apple reminded me of someone. "Doesn't this look like something Paul would like?" I asked Darren. Darren didn't know. He was no help in solving this mystery, but Emmett was. As soon as I got up from the computer, Emmett did some cyber-sleuthing. Looking up the website of the Ebay store, he soon found a picture of the apple in its catalog. Underneath the picture were comments. One was from a "paulhunt" who wrote, "I can't wait to buy this for me mum." (Does that mean you got one too, Mom?) Thanks, Paul. I should have known it was from you because of your history of sending mystery packages.

My last post was from my prior life--the one before getting a "real" teaching job (getting a paycheck from a school district with taxes and social security taken out). Darren's unexplained foot swelling STILL hasn't received a helpful diagnosis two-and-a-half months later, but he is back to work, trying to ignore the swelling, burning, and tingling as he walks all day in the heat to deliver packages. At his last appointment, the doctor had his secretary write the note on the right (that's why it's legible). Everyone who I've told about it asks ludicrously, "Does the doctor expect him to elevate his foot on the dashboard of his delivery truck or what?" And the other absurdity is the wording "when they become swollen." They've haven't been normal-sized since June!

Me and Jaden have joked about "mysterious packages" and to assume that they are always from Paul. Cute. I hope that you are doing okay. (I would call but remember I always have bad timing)
Glad that you are back to your blog. I hope this means that life is starting to settle down.
I especially loved the fact that he was encouraged to sit as much as possible, as well as put his foot up. Do they think Santa's elves drive them between stops and deliver the boxes?
Your blog was so fun to read. It made me laugh!
Paul was so thoughtful sending the apple. Families are the best! I was sad that he didn't get a job, here. London sounds fun though.
