It's Scary Hot Out There!

Just a few days ago, a worry kept niggling in the back of my mind. The long string of 110-plus days caused me to wonder what would happen if a delivery driver in an non-air-conditioned truck got heat stroke or exhaustion on the job. Darren's response shocked me. (If you want to know what it was, I'll have to tell you in a less open forum.)
Well, today Darren was drinking LOTS of fluids (ice water, Gatorade and such), as usual, but it just kept pouring out as fast as he was pouring it in. He usually checks in with me after lunch. I could tell by the ragged sound of his voice today that he wasn't doing so great. He had found an office to hunker in to get out of the heat for a while, hoping it would help. After that first call, I called him back about every 20 minutes to make sure that he was still okay. He ended up calling someone to come take him back to the main hub, and Cherise and I made a trip to Tempe to pick up him and his car. After a cold bath, a priesthood blessing and some fever reducers, his temperature has dropped a degree or two to 101. At the moment, Darren is snoring peacefully in bed. Usually, that sound annoys me to no end, but right now, I am grateful for it. It means that he's still alive!

Scary! I love the heat but I don't know about ALL day with no A/C.
